        1. Development of a data base on the various natural resources  and socio-economic dimensions.

         2. To improve knowledge  about climate change and  the associated risk.

         3. Studying the traditional knowledge  system and its preservation  and conservation.

         4. Modelling and prediction of future trends on the potential impact of climate change on the different sectors.

         5. Networking with different institutes  to share knowledge and expertise.

         6. To increase awareness of the planners and policy makers about the effect of climate change.

         7. Training and capacity building for  better adaptation and mitigation of climate change impacts.

         8. Development of regional cooperation to design appropriate strategies and alternative policies for management of the mountain ecosystem in the region.
