Answer: Climate change refers to long-term shifts in global or regional climate patterns, primarily caused by human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, leading to alterations in temperature, precipitation, and other climatic factors.

 

Q2. What causes climate change?

Answer: Climate change is primarily caused by the release of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, mainly from human activities such as burning fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas), deforestation, and industrial processes.

 

Q3. How does climate change affect the environment?

Answer: Climate change impacts the environment in various ways, including rising temperatures, melting glaciers and ice caps, more frequent and severe weather events (such as hurricanes and heatwaves), changes in precipitation patterns, sea level rise, and disruptions to ecosystems and wildlife.

 

Q4. Can anyone get/retrieve the annual weather data for Manipur through the website?

Answer: No, but you can visit the nodal office which is Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Govt. of Porompat Imphal East and request an application regarding your specific requirements.

 

Q5. Are the provided reports updated ones?

Answer: Yes, the State Climate Change Cell, Manipur organise Workshops and Training Programmes on a regular basis thus, all the reports shown on the site are the works done by the Cell.


Q6. Can the site also generate or show pollution data like solid waste and liquid waste of the state? Also, can the site also provide water parameter data for all the major rivers and water bodies of the state?

Answer: The State Climate Change Cell, Manipur currently focuses on four major sectors viz. Agriculture, Water, Health and Forest. Thus, apart from information regarding the mentioned sectors there are no data or information shown at the website.

 

Q7. Does the cell provide training or capacity building programme on a regular basis? If so, how can we take part?

Answer: You can visit our head office which is Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Govt. of Manipur, Porompat Imphal East and consult with our officials of State Climate Change Cell, Manipur.

 

Q8. Is the weather and rainfall data shown on the site real time?

Answer: No, the weather and rainfall data are not real time.

 

Q9. Who is currently handling the website?

Answer: Officials of State Climate Change Cell, Manipur which is under Directorate of Environment and Climate Change, Govt. of Manipur.
